Pattavia Century Golf Club

Pattavia Century Golf Club

This golf course used to be called “Century Chonburi” when it first opened in 1998 and was designed by US architect Robert Macfarland. Bobs other notable golf course designs in Asia include Toscana Golf Resort in Khao Yai and King Island Resort in Vietnam.

Originally this was a golf course wasn’t on the radar  for international tourists as it was about a 45 minute drive from Pattaya and about 1.5 hours from Bangkok, not many people even knew about it, let alone play here

Wind the clock forward, SRM sports management is now managing this renovated Pattaya golf course and have been responsible for introducing the  new club house and updates to the golf course machinery, they are making a push to get the international tourist to come and play.

I visited the course this week and was pleasantly surprised. The new club house has just be completed and has a proshop and spacious locker room down stairs and for dining after your round, either an open aired restaurant overlooking the 18th  green and fairway or air-conditioned restaurant.

On playing the course, you can see the work that the green staff are putting in to bring this course back to the designers original plans, the fairways are being sculptured with the rough being grown in, up to 30 metres from the tree line on certain holes, bunkers have been refilled with sand and the trees have been pruned back where they come into the golfers playing lines.

While not up there with the Siams and Laem Chabangs of Pattaya, if you are looking for a round of golf away from the masses with a great course design, tee it up at Pattavia.
