Two Major Golf Events in Thailand this month

Two Major Golf Events in Thailand this month

Thailand will be the centre of attention when the DP World Tour and the LPGA arrive in the land of the smiles shortly.

The DP World tour is returning to Thailand after an absence of seven years when the US$2Million Thailand Classic arrives at Amata Springs on February 16th to 19th.

This DP World Tour event is part of their full schedule and it has attracted a strong international field including Robert Macintyre, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Andy Sullivan, Andrew ‘Beef” Johnston, and ex Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn.

Local players will also compete including veteran Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

This is the first time that a DP World Tour has returned to Thailand since 2016. General admission ticket includes access to the golf and the Fan Village is free.

LPGA in Pattaya

Thailand is hosting not one but two major golf events in February as the LPGA stars will be in Pattaya as well.

The Honda LPGA Thailand kicks off a three-week stretch of events that make up the Tour’s annual Asia swing.

Lydia Ko the world No 1 plus Nelly Korda, MinJee Lee and Atthaya Thitikul are amongst the field of 72 set to compete in the Honda LPGA Thailand at the Siam Country Club Old Course near Pattaya from February 23rd – 26th 2023.

In 2023, nearly a dozen Thai players are poised to compete in the 16th playing of the Honda LPGA Thailand. It’s an event that is particularly special to those who call the country home. In 2021, Thailand’s own Ariya Jutanguarn became the first Thai to win the championship in what was one of the proudest moments of her career.

Tickets for general admission start from THB450 for Thursday going up to THB650 for Sunday.

Bearing in mind Atthaya Thitikul the Thai teenager and former World No 1 nearly won this event last year it is not surprising that the organisers are expecting bumper crowds.
