Advantages & Disadvantages of Staying near Walking Street in Pattaya

Advantages & Disadvantages of Staying near Walking Street in Pattaya

When I have my friends come to Pattaya, they all ask about Walking Street and the nearest hotels to stay so they are nearby to it. While Walking Street is probably the most famous street here is Pattaya with the night clubs, go go bars and great restaurants on the wharves into the bay, there is so much more to Pattaya to this small strip. I guess when you live here all the time the bright lights of the go go bars and loud bass from the night clubs soon loses its appeal and you tend to find other areas that are less touristy.

If you wanted to stay near walking Street then a good hotel i would recommend is the Siam Bayshore is right at the end of Walking Street and is a great hotel and is a short walk to the famous strip.

The advantage for the new comer staying so close to this entertainment area of Pattaya, is the appeal that you are less than a 3 minute walk and you are right in the middle of the circus that walking street is. As you walk along you pass the restaurants to your left and the bars on the right. It’s not that hard to find your way home and you don’t have to get a taxi home.

Now on the other hand, Walking Street is just one area when you will find entertainment. Anywhere along the beach road you will find open aired bars and great restaurants and you won’t be shoulder to shoulder with all the other tourists that are in town to see the circus.

There are about 5 or 6 pockets of entertainment venues that most of the tourists come to see here in Pattaya.

Soi 6, 7 and 8 are roads that are packed with bars, go gos and restaurants, Soi LK metro is a L shaped road that has plenty of bars and Soi Bukkhaeow is a windy back street that parallels Second road and has everything that walking street has without the high prices that Walking street seems to command.

There are so many great hotels along the Beach road and for a THB 10 ($USD 0.50) you can get the public transport (locals call them baht buses) that runs along the one way beach road right into Walking Street. I much prefer this option for my friends, as you don’t go to walking street every night and its good to see different areas of Pattaya.

If you are looking for a great 5* hotel that is a short taxi ride to Walking Street then I would suggest staying at the Hilton hotel. This hotel is located on Beach road and has commanding views into the Pattaya bay from all rooms.

If you are on more of a budget then I recommend to my friends to either stay at the Centara Pattaya, or Woodlands Resort in North Pattaya which is still only a 5 minute ride on the baht bus to walking street.

There are so many choices of hotels here in Pattaya and the public transport here is cheap so dont limit yourself to staying right in Walking Street, your ears and wallet will thank you later !!
